According to their website, Pour Taproom is the world's largest self-pour bar. There are 46 beers on tap ad 8 wines available. You go in and start a tab. They check your ID and give you a wrist band. The wrist band will activate the taps. Each tap has an iPad above with information about the beer, You put your bracelet up to the iPad and it welcomes you, "Hello Amy, you have had 9 ounces." You pour your beer and it measures how much you poured. Most of mine were 3 ounce pours. I sampled maybe 5 or 6 beers. And the great thing was I had less than 32 ounces. You only pay for what you drink. Some of the beers I would have never sampled otherwise. We went with Iler's brother, Josh and his wife, Whitney when they were in town during Christmas. They live in Atlanta so when they come back home, we try to always go somewhere that is very "Asheville." Whitney and I discovered that we probably don't have bright futures as bartenders! I was terrible at working the tap without getting tons of beer head! We eventually got a little better - it definitely made me appreciate a good pour.
Check out their website, the taps are constantly changing. But I will warn you - the fact that the taps change so often really is great marketing because it makes me want to go back all the time and sample. They have games downstairs, but we didn't make it down there. We didn't stay long because we were on our way to dinner, but I already can't wait to go back!
